ST. PETE, Fla. — The St. Petersburg Police Department (SPPD) said an investigation is underway after a woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday morning.
Police said a Toyota Camry attempted to back out of the Sunshine Food Mart parking lot on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South shortly after 2 a.m. on May 6.
When the Toyota entered the roadway, a black Jeep Wrangler traveling southbound struck the Toyota’s passenger side, per the report.
SPPD said a 29-year-old St. Petersburg woman, who was a passenger in the Toyota, died from her injuries.
The driver of the Toyota and a passenger in the Jeep were transported to the hospital with minor injuries, per SPPD.
Police said the driver of the Jeep was not injured, remained on scene, and was cooperative with the investigation.
The investigation remains open and active, per SPPD.
