Imagine being charged for something you haven't used in 15 years

Small business owner traces generic fee to AT&T
Thousands of dollars charged for unused service

Karyn Seibert, the owner of Seibert Insurance discovered a no name charge for dial-up internet on her credit card bill this summer.

The small business owner then did some digging. She found the fees from AT&T on her monthly American Express statements going all the way back to 2011. But no one noticed the generic internet charge until recently.

Seibert says she spoke to a supervisor at AT&T at length for weeks but it seemed no one could figure out where the bill came from or why it was on her bill. And she told us AT&T kept dinging her card.

I reached out to the company after Seibert made a call for action.

In an email AT&T explained: “The account was established by the customer and was never canceled until earlier this year.”

Still the company as a gesture of good faith offered to refund a full year's worth of charges amounting to about $350.

Now this consumer is just relieved to get this long running charge that cost her company thousands of dollars off the books for good.
