FLORIDA — A freeze warning is in effect for most of the Tampa Bay area tonight, with temperatures dropping into the mid-to-upper 20s in Citrus, Hernando, and Pasco counties, and hovering near freezing in Hillsborough and points south. Gusty northwest winds will make it feel even colder, with wind chills in the low-to-mid 20s in northern counties.

Chief meteorologist Denis Phillips said this will likely be the coldest night since Christmas 2022, before temperatures rebound to near 60 degrees Friday and climb into the lower 70s Saturday. Another front moves in Sunday, bringing another blast of cold air and a chance for light snow in the Florida Panhandle. Warmer, more seasonable weather is expected to return by the middle of next week.

This isn’t “cute chilly.”
This is plants covered, pets inside, space heaters out cold.

Wind makes it worse. And no, this does NOT mean snow, although still looking at the Panhandle on Sunday!

Cold sticks around through Friday morning — then we slowly climb out.

Florida winter is reminding us who’s boss.
