Big Storm Brewing, a Tampa Bay brewing company that opened in 2012, now belongs to a bankruptcy estate.
According to documents, Boston Finance Group (BFG) and Big Storm partner Leo Govoni agreed to transfer all stock and limited liability company membership interests in any entity to the Chapter 11 trustee.
This affects all corporations held by BFG, including Big Storm Brewing.
A 2024 lawsuit alleged from 2009 to 2020, Govoni misappropriated over $100 million from special needs trusts, which are specialized irrevocable trusts established for the elderly and people with disabilities.
Govoni co-founded The Center for Special Needs Trust Administration, which filed for bankruptcy last year. After the filing, the lawsuit states it was discovered that the Center was transferring funds from SNT's under its administration and paying them out as a purported loan to BFG.
The Tampa Bay brewing community has continuously expanded since it first opened over 10 years ago, with its taproom located in Clearwater.
“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”
South Florida lawmaker Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) says it may be time to do away with homeowners associations altogether, as more Floridians speak out about rising fees, costly lawsuits, and even arrests tied to HOA disputes. He said this week that he is considering filing legislation in the next session that would abolish HOAs statewide.
