TAMPA, FLA. — Tampa police arrested a woman in Ybor City on Friday morning after stabbing a man multiple times, authorities said.

Nikia Thornton, 46, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

At about 1:45 a.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of East 24th Ave in response to a stabbing call.

Upon their arrival, officers located an adult male with multiple stab wounds, police officials said.

He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Thorton was identified and located nearby, where she was taken into custody.

Detectives are still working to determine what led to the incident, but said both individuals knew each other.

Additional information would be made available pending the investigation, officials said.
