BRADENTON, Fla. — The Bradenton Police Department is currently investigating the fatal shooting of a teenager found near the Palma Sola Causeway early Saturday morning.
Shortly after 1 a.m., a police officer responded to a report of gunshots in the 8600 block of Manatee Avenue West and found a 16-year-old deceased.
Detectives believe the teen was picked up at a Manatee County location earlier in the evening and driven to the secluded area of the causeway where the shooting occurred.
The causeway and Manatee Bridge were closed for several hours for the investigation. Roads reopened just after 5:30 a.m.
Detectives believed this was an isolated incident and the investigation is ongoing.

“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”
South Florida lawmaker Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) says it may be time to do away with homeowners associations altogether, as more Floridians speak out about rising fees, costly lawsuits, and even arrests tied to HOA disputes. He said this week that he is considering filing legislation in the next session that would abolish HOAs statewide.
