BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — Hernando County Fire Rescue said one person is dead after a mobile home fire in Brooksville Wednesday evening.
Hernando County Sheriff's Office first confirmed the deadly mobile home fire earlier in the evening on Feb. 12.
HCFR said they were dispatched to the home on Shady Street and, while responding, received reports of a potential person trapped inside the home. First responders entered the home and searched for any residents. They then found one victim dead inside the home.
According to HCFR, the fire was contained within 30 minutes, and no other injuries were sustained.
The investigation is ongoing.
“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”
South Florida lawmaker Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) says it may be time to do away with homeowners associations altogether, as more Floridians speak out about rising fees, costly lawsuits, and even arrests tied to HOA disputes. He said this week that he is considering filing legislation in the next session that would abolish HOAs statewide.
