Courtney Campbell crash involving officer closes westbound lanes

CLEARWATER, Fla. — UPDATE: ALL LANES HAVE REOPENED

Clearwater Police officers are investigating a three-vehicle crash on the Courtney Campbell Causeway this morning that involved a police officer.

The crash occurred in the westbound lanes about 5:30 a.m. One person was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital as a trauma alert.

The officer was taken to Morton Plant Hospital to be checked out for minor injuries.

The westbound lanes of the causeway remain closed at this time.

Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) says it may be time to do away with homeowners associations altogether, as more Floridians speak out about rising fees, costly lawsuits, and even arrests tied to HOA disputes. He said this week that he is considering filing legislation in the next session that would abolish HOAs statewide.
