BRANDON, Fla. — Deputies have charged a man with second-degree murder after they say he shot a victim during an argument in Brandon Sunday night.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said Delfeayo McCoy, 32, was arguing with 25-year-old Darien Lamont Henry in the breezeway of an apartment building on Providence Trace Circle around 7:05 p.m. During the argument, McCoy retrieved a gun and shot Henry before fleeing the scene.
Henry was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital, where he died.
Detectives found McCoy at a home in the 4900 block of 80th Street South in Tampa just hours after the shooting. He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder with a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.
This is still an ongoing investigation.
“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”
South Florida lawmaker Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) says it may be time to do away with homeowners associations altogether, as more Floridians speak out about rising fees, costly lawsuits, and even arrests tied to HOA disputes. He said this week that he is considering filing legislation in the next session that would abolish HOAs statewide.
