CLEARWATER, Fla. — A suspect is in custody after a shooting at the police substation on Clearwater Beach in the early hours of June 16.
The Clearwater Police Department (CPD) said 25-year-old Gamaliel Reyes of Lakeland was arrested after he opened fire in the open bay area of the substation.
CPD said the bullets hit a police car, and the estimated damage is over $1,000.
No injuries were reported.
After firing the shots, Reyes called law enforcement to surrender and was taken into custody without incident.
This is a developing story.
“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”
South Florida lawmaker Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) says it may be time to do away with homeowners associations altogether, as more Floridians speak out about rising fees, costly lawsuits, and even arrests tied to HOA disputes. He said this week that he is considering filing legislation in the next session that would abolish HOAs statewide.
