PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol said a man is dead after he attempted to cross I-275 and was hit by a car on Friday evening.

FHP said a Toyota Prius was traveling southbound on I-275 near 22nd Avenue South when a man attempted to walk across the interstate and entered the vehicle's path. The man was struck by the car and suffered injuries.

Officials said the man was taken to an area hospital to be treated and later died from his injuries.

“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”

South Florida lawmaker Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) says it may be time to do away with homeowners associations altogether, as more Floridians speak out about rising fees, costly lawsuits, and even arrests tied to HOA disputes. He said this week that he is considering filing legislation in the next session that would abolish HOAs statewide.
