A man who barricaded himself in a Wesley Chapel home after allegedly shooting a woman on Friday is facing attempted murder charges, authorities said.
Pasco County Sheriff's Office deputies say the incident happened in the Marquette Avenue area just after 7:30 p.m., when a man shot a woman inside a home after an altercation.
PCSO deputies found the woman and got her medical care. She is in stable, but critical condition.
The suspect then barricaded himself inside the home. Shots were heard from inside the home a short time later.
After several hours of attempting to negotiate, deputies entered the home and detained the suspect. He was taken to a hospital for treatment for what appeared to be self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
The suspect is facing a charge of attempted homicide.
“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”
South Florida lawmaker Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) says it may be time to do away with homeowners associations altogether, as more Floridians speak out about rising fees, costly lawsuits, and even arrests tied to HOA disputes. He said this week that he is considering filing legislation in the next session that would abolish HOAs statewide.
