ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Police said they have identified the suspect who was shot and killed while attempting a home invasion in St. Petersburg early Wednesday morning.
St. Pete Police identified the suspect as 20-year-old Marcel James Williams.
Around 2 a.m., Williams and another man entered a home on 40th Street North. The homeowner then fired a gun, injuring Williams.
Williams was taken to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
The second suspect fled the home.
Police said this is very early in the investigation, and there are no other details available at this time.
“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”
South Florida lawmaker Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) says it may be time to do away with homeowners associations altogether, as more Floridians speak out about rising fees, costly lawsuits, and even arrests tied to HOA disputes. He said this week that he is considering filing legislation in the next session that would abolish HOAs statewide.
