LARGO, Fla. — Police released a picture of an SUV they believe is involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a man Wednesday night.

The Largo Police Department said officers responded to the crash on 2560 Roosevelt Boulevard around 9 p.m.

The victim, James Lescord, was attempting to cross the road, not in a crosswalk, on Roosevelt Boulevard when an unknown vehicle struck the pedestrian and fled the area.

Police said a second vehicle, a 2007 tan Toyota Highlander, was traveling west on Roosevelt Boulevard shortly after the initial crash. The Toyota then struck the victim, who was still on the road.

The Toyota's driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, according to officials.

Police are still searching for the suspect driving the first vehicle, which they believe is a dark-colored Ford or Mercury SUV. They provided a picture from a surveillance camera of a nearby gas station showing the vehicle in the background.
