TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay area honors Martin Luther King Jr. with parades, film screenings and commemorations. Here is a list of events happening around the area this weekend and Monday.
Saturday, Jan. 17
- MLK Day Festival: A community celebration of culture, civil rights, literacy and family
- When: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

- Plant City MLK Parade and Drumline Invitational: The 41st Annual festival will feature a parade through downtown Plant City, marching bands and food trucks
- When: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Monday, Jan. 19
City of Tampa MLK Parade: Tampa Bay 28 anchors Andrew Kinsey and Deiah Riley will be live at 9 a.m. Monday at the parade. Kinsey and Riley emceed the MLK Parade Foundation Gala on Jan. 9.

MLK Day film screening: Tampa Theatre will have a screening of the WEDU feature documentary TRIUMPH: Tampa's Untold Chapter in the Civil Rights Movement

Commemoration for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Straz: Evening of gospel music, the powerful writings and young voices sharing their hopes and visions for 2026
- When: 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

- 39th Annual St Pete MLK Parade: The parade travels through downtown St. Petersburg on a route that will culminate at Tropicana Field. The parade will feature floats, marching bands, cultural performances, and a vibrant show of unity and diversity.

- Where: West on 1st Ave. S from 3rd St. S to 16th St. S, then south on 16th St. to 3rd Ave. S., St Petersburg

35th Annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration: Event will bring together local leaders, residents, faith leaders, organizers, and youth to reflect on Dr. King’s vision of justice, equality, and collective responsibility, while addressing present-day challenges facing the community.
