71-year-old woman on golf cart dies after getting hit by a truck in Hillsborough

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol said a woman driving a golf cart died after she was hit by a truck crossing a road in Sun City Center.

FHP said the truck was traveling east on Sun City Boulevard around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The truck failed to stop at a red traffic signal at Pebble Beach Boulevard and hit a 71-year-old woman who was on the golf cart attempting to cross with a green light.

The woman was taken to the hospital but later died from injuries in the crash.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office closed eastbound lanes at Sun City Center Boulevard near Pebble Beach Boulevard while investigating the crash.
