TAMPA, Fla. — Deputies have identified two people involved in a fatal stabbing in Hillsborough County on Sunday.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) said Manuel Gonzalez, 70, and Alida M. Simmons, 73, were hospitalized with serious injuries after the stabbing at County Run Park.

Simmons later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, according to authorities. Gonzalez was charged with premeditated first-degree murder with a weapon and armed kidnapping.

Gonzalez is still hospitalized due to his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the case should contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200.

“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”

South Florida lawmaker Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) says it may be time to do away with homeowners associations altogether, as more Floridians speak out about rising fees, costly lawsuits, and even arrests tied to HOA disputes. He said this week that he is considering filing legislation in the next session that would abolish HOAs statewide.
