Police arrest man for second-degree murder after argument leads to shooting

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — Pinellas Park Police are investigating a homicide that happened Sunday evening.

According to the Pinellas Park Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area of 35th St. North and Applewood Terrace.

Through an investigation, police learned that Jose Vanegas-Letcher and Stanley McSwain Jr. were at the home of their girlfriends on Applewood Terrace North.

Police said McSwain and Vanegas-Letcher then got into an argument, and as McSwain was leaving the home, Vanegas-Letcher retrieved a gun and shot McSwain multiple times.

McSwain was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Vanegas-Letcher was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
