PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla — Hurricane Milton's winds ripped off the roof of Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg Wednesday evening. The field served as a staging area for hundreds of Florida National Guardsmen and electrical workers before the storm.

According to the Florida National Guard, the guardsmen inside Tropicana Field were moved to Ocala Wednesday before Hurricane Milton made landfall. No one at the park was injured during the storm.
The Tampa Bay Rays released a statement Thursday afternoon saying its first priority is supporting the community and staff. They said it will likely take weeks to assess the condition of Tropicana Field.
