SPRING HILL, Fla. — Three teens have been arrested for a shooting at an apartment complex in Spring Hill over the weekend.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened around 7:40 p.m. Sunday night. Deputies say that three teens were shot in a car in the parking lot of Mariner's Cay Apartments.
After the shooting, the vehicle drove back into the Publix parking lot with the three injured teens.
One of the victims ran towards Publix for help, which led to several calls of an active shooter.
The Publix was then evacuated by authorities.
Three teens were taken to the hospital Sunday night. One teen, a 16-year-old man, died from his injuries. The other two teens are expected to make a full recovery.
HCSO arrested Tarian Rush, 18, on Monday for 2nd-degree murder and two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The two other teens were booked and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center in Ocala.
“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”
South Florida lawmaker Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) says it may be time to do away with homeowners associations altogether, as more Floridians speak out about rising fees, costly lawsuits, and even arrests tied to HOA disputes. He said this week that he is considering filing legislation in the next session that would abolish HOAs statewide.
