TAMPA, Fla — Tampa Fire Rescue (TFR) says six apartment units suffered damage from fire, smoke, and water following a fire on the 3900 block of W. Osborne Avenue.
According to TFR, firefighters responded to a mechanic shop and scrap yard facility fire at around 6:18 p.m. Tuesday. This is following the heavy smoke reported by many people who called 911.
The first crews who arrived saw a large covered exterior section of the scrap yard heavily involved in fire. Flames began spreading quickly to the six-unit apartment building next to the property.
TFR says firefighters started battling the fire from all angles, and confirmed that all residents had been evacuated. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The fire was controlled in about 90 minutes, but three families were displaced and were getting help from the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
