POINCIANA, Fla. — Polk County Sheriff (PCSO) said they are investigating a deputy-involved shooting that injured one person Monday.
PCSO said the shooting happened in the Poinciana area of Polk County.
A deputy was called to a suicidal subject call at the Poinciana home. The deputy went to the house and the suicidal man shot at the deputy along with the man's wife, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.
The deputy called for backup and SWAT was called to assist with the incident.
After attempting to negotiate with the man to get him out of the home for some time, the man allegedly pointed a gun at SWAT team members and was shot, according to Sheriff Judd.
No deputies were injured. The suspect was injured and is in custody, PCSO said. He is in the hospital in critical condition.
This is a developing story.
“You know, it might just be time we take a look if HOAs are really even necessary.
Maybe we should just do away with homeowner associations as a whole.”
South Florida lawmaker Rep. Juan Carlos Porras (R-Miami) says it may be time to do away with homeowners associations altogether, as more Floridians speak out about rising fees, costly lawsuits, and even arrests tied to HOA disputes. He said this week that he is considering filing legislation in the next session that would abolish HOAs statewide.
